Ms. Marie Pillai is a former Vice President, Chief Investment Officer & Treasurer, General Mills

Ms. Marie Pillai currently serves on non-profit investment boards including the Bush Foundation, University of Minnesota, Catholic Community Foundation, and the Archdiocese of Minneapolis & St Paul. She was Vice President, Chief Investment Officer & Treasurer at General Mills, when she retired in 2019. Joining General Mills in 2009, Ms. Pillai oversaw a well-diversified portfolio encompassing overfunded pension, 401k, healthcare, and foundation assets. From 2003 to 2009, Ms. Pillai was Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of Siemens, managing and overseeing all aspects of their pension and 401(k) plan assets. Prior to that, Ms. Pillai was at Procter & Gamble, taking leadership roles across category management, international operations, systems, brands, manufacturing, and global retirement plan asset management during her 16-year tenure from 1986 to 2002.

Ms. Pillai served on the Board of Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis and chaired its Investment Committee from 2011-2017. She also served as an Institutional Customer Advisory Board member at  BNY-Mellon and Vanguard from 2013-2019.

Ms. Pillai received a BA from St Xavier’s College in India; an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Case Western University; an MA in International Economics from Temple University.
